Hannah Abrahams is a well established practising Educational and Child Psychologist having worked as a Psychologist for 10 years and also as a mother of three young children. Hannah completed her training at the Institute of Education and she is an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (AFBPSS). Hannah has gained much experience within Islington Local Education Authority where she is committed to supporting a number of local schools as well as Nurseries and Specialist Educational Settings. Hannah believes that being a parent too ensures that she has developed a deeper understanding of children and empathy towards the difficulties they or their families may encounter.
Hannah also works privately using a consultation and assessment based approach. Hannah works closely with the schools and families to support the needs of the child. She has awareness and competence of using a wide range of assessment tools in order to develop a holistic understanding of the child’s needs in the hope of bringing about positive change.
Hannah has had extensive experience in supporting parents of children with behavioural needs as well as diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder and ADHD. Hannah has a specialist interest in working with Nursery and Primary aged children. Hannah regularly assesses and supports children in both Primary and Secondary Educational setting for difficulties with Numeracy and Literacy. She has a comprehensive knowledge about how best to support children’s development in these areas of their learning as well as supporting and developing children’s self esteem. Hannah runs parent support groups and believes that a collaborative approach to working with children within multidisciplinary teams is vital.
Hannah has a specialist interest in supporting children who have suffered bereavement and trauma in their lives. She is presently studying with Grief Encounters Organisation.
Hannah has successfully co founded VIParenting where fortnightly sessions supporting parents on the challenges of parenthood are run in North London alongside Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, Psychiatrists and Paediatric Physiotherapists.
